He was a graduate of Dunkirk High School and formerly worked as a police officer, and dispatcher for the city of Dunkirk and spent over 20 years on the Dunkirk Fire Department. Farrel was the loving husband of Bonnie Jean Pozsgai Wells, who he happily married on February 2, , but sadly lost on December 6, He was quite the jokester and enjoyed birdwatching, gunsmithing, fishing, muzzle loading, listening to country music, watching DIY shows, taking fishing trips to Canada and spending time with his 2 dogs Katie and Willow.
